Twitter: “We suck at dealing with trolling”

We all know that the popular social media website, Twitter, has a lot of trolls and bullies on it. However, recently there has been a series of high profile users quitting twitter because of the online abuse.

Twitter’s chief executive admitted that the company has failed to properly deal with online abuse and trolling, but that there will be tougher action against abusers.

Twitter Admits That It ‘Sucks’

“We suck at dealing with abuse and trolls on the platform and we’ve sucked at it for years. It’s no secret that the rest of the world talks about it every day. We lose core user after core user by not addressing simple trolling issues that they face every day.” Said Dick Costolo, Chief Executive, in February 2015.

Some of the users who have quit the online social media website include Jane Goldman, Sara Payne, and Zelda Rae Williams. Some people have even confronted their trolls like Lindy West who wrote about her abuse and later received an apology from her troll for his behavior.

But the famous platform has also taken brave steps lately to strike down revenge porn and doxxing. This alteration, hopefully, will maintain peace and curb online bullying. (And yes, there is such a thing as Twitter porn!)
