No matter what you are passionate about or what sort of activity you like to take part in, there are different UK charity challenge opportunities available. It is more about actually deciding upon which charity event is going to be best for you and whether or not it works with your schedule.

Bike Riding Options

If you enjoy riding your bike and have been looking for a way to give back to the community, this is a great way for you to do so. The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100, it is not something for you to take up if you are not a more experienced bike rider who puts in long rides almost every day. In fact, it might not be suitable for beginners or those under the age of 18, but in terms of charity challenges, this is an excellent option for you. Despite taking place in the UK, this is a 100-mile route that is closed while you partake. All of the money raised through sponsorships for the raise is dedicated to several different charities, which is usually determined later (there are often multiple charities that receive money from this event, due to the large number of individuals who decide to partake in this charity challenge.

The Manchester to Liverpool Bike Ride is another option that really is great and you should take advantage of. It is a shorter race than the previous option, as it is 55 miles instead of over 100, but it is still something that should be taken on only by serious riders due to extended length of the ride.

Charity Runs 2014

It does not matter if you are an avid runner or you would rather stick with a 5K, there are all sorts of different runs available for you to take part in. With all of the charity challenge ideas available to you, there is really no excuse to finding one that works for your distance or desired charity you wish to donate to. There is a Christmas 4 Mile Road Race, which takes place in Emore. There is the Grand Union Challenge, which is a 100km run. This takes you through several of London’s great showcase locations, including the historic Grand Union Canal. Now, while the main event is 100km, you can opt into either the 50 or 25km race. There is even a team relay, if you would rather break it up into a shorter race with some of your friends.

The NSPCC Milton Keyness Half Marathon is available for passionate runners and it provides a rather nice introduction to half marathons, as it is a flat course, so you do not need to deal with running hills. It also has four water stations spread throughout the course. When it comes to charity challenges for charity, this is an excellent option. Now, like many of the other races and charity events, the actual charity does change from year to year, so you need to look into the actual event you wish to partake in before actually signing up if there is a specific charity you are interested in.

The Isle of Wright Challenge is an option that has several different lengths. The longest one is 106km in length, while there are also 54km or a 32km option. Now, it is said that you are able to run, jog or walk it, but chances are, you probably don’t want to walk 106km (that might take you a very long time to complete).

The Brighton Marathon is the second largest marathon that takes place inside of the London area, plus it is rather flat, so it is a faster race. If you have been searching for a marathon to sign up for, but don’t want to go directly into the London Marathon, this is a nice option for you. Other events that help bring in money for cancer research include the River Rat Race in Stockton, which is a wet and wild 10K obstacle course. From running through mud to climbing over logs and putting yourself through an incredible endurance test, this is an excellent opportunity for you to test your strength against those around you, all while donating to cancer research. In terms of the challenge adventure charities, there is also The Mighty Deerstalker. Here, you are going to run through trenches, climb up slopes and try to do it all at night during the challenge. So, if you have been looking for a brand new challenge that is different from the rest, this is one of the very best ways to go.

Other Charity Challenge 2014 Events

Now, if you are looking for something different from running and bicycling, yet don’t want to jog through mud or climb up slopes and scale buildings, there are other options available to you. Perhaps you are more of a swimmer and you want to give back while swimming. You can do this with the Great Manchester Swim. All of the money that is raised here goes towards cancer research. It is also one of the newer events, so it is important for you to take advantage of these charity challenges, otherwise it may not stay on the calendar. On the other hand, if you are more of an extreme sports enthusiast and running or riding a bicycle on its own is not enough, you need to look towards a triathlon. There are several different triathlons on the schedule that are sure to work your entire body, all while allowing you to give money back to charity. There is the South Coast Triathlon, which allows you to swim along the South Coast. The City of Birmingham Triathlon is a popular event, and while there is incredibly beautiful scenery to check out when taking part in the event. Lastly, there is the London Triathlon. This is the most popular of all the three. In fact, it is the world’s largest and most iconic triathlon. So, if you are looking to take part in one of the most important charity events in the entire world, this is the way to go. Just remember that you need to register well in advance for this particular event, and even so, there are a limited number of available spots due to the popularity of it. You might be better off completing a few other triathlons ahead of this. It is not always the best spot for first timers.

There really is no excuse for you to not find a charity that works for you. With all of the different events out there in a single, calendar year, there is always something that fits what you need. Whether you are an avid runner, love your bicycle or you have been waiting to crawl through mud in the middle of night without your neighbors asking you strange questions the next morning, there is something you can take advantage off, all for a good cause. Now, there are some people who are not able to compete in these different events, and other times there are people who just do not like the extreme conditions or athletic activities. This is perfectly fine and it is something you do not need to worry about. If you are such an individual, you are more than welcome to just donate to your favorite charity. Every little bit helps. So, whether you want to help fight cancer, reduce bullying in schools or you just love animals and want to make sure all animals are properly taken care of, this is the way to go and it is what you need to do. While 2014 is quickly coming to a close, it does not mean you are unable to enjoy in some of the different charity events taking place throughout 2015. Many of these same events are going to be taking place throughout the next year, and there are also going to be new events as well. So keep an eye out for what is sure to come.
