When nothing feels all right

To be like me

To be left out in the dark
To be kicked when you’re down
To feel like you’ve been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one’s there to save you
No, you don’t know what it’s like
Welcome to my life”

The Definition of a Bully

A bully is defined as a person, male or female, who uses power and strength to harm, intimidate and control those who are weaker. A bully can also be described as someone who use superior strength or influence to intimidate, typically to force the victim to do what they want.

Bullying typically begins with verbal abuse, and then expands. There are three types of bullying: physical, verbal and cyber-bullying. By definition, the bully is looking to gain control of the victim or using bullying tactics to gain the admiration of their peers.

Cyber-bullying is a new variation of bullying that has manifested in the past decade. It involves the same behaviors of control and intimidation except that the bullies use the Internet to manipulate the victim. Cyber-bullying includes Facebook, My Space and other types of social media as well as direct emails to reach their target. The bully can embarrass and intimidate the victim in front of the other members, and then send direct emails with more psychological abuse. Studies show that one in nine students claim they have been cyber-bullied, and it affects office workers, too.

The Pain Involved in Bullying

When a victim is being bullied, no matter what the reason is, there is a hurt inside that must be treated. The bully also has issues that need to be dealt with and writing or reading bullying quotes and sayings is one way to express what they have been through. There are as many reasons to bully as there are individual bullies, but the shame, insecurity and dysfunctional behaviors are common to all involved.

Studies show that everyone who is caught up in the act of bullying must find an outlet for their emotions. If the bully and victim are left untreated, both are damaged from these attacks of power. After the situation has ended, the solution is to break the cycle of violence by sharing what was experienced and replace the negative with positive.
