You use it to share your happy looking photos, pranks you pull on friends, weddings, births and memories. But little did he know about Facebook Bullying Stories found below.
Lately, Facebook has shown a very dark side. A side no one thought could come across such a friendly looking social network. According to the Globe and Mail, a 16 year old Canadian girl, was raped and drugged by a group of men and photos of her ordeal went viral on Facebook.
Perpetrators were both minors and adults, and one 16-year-old boy was held briefly and may be charged with producing and distributing child pornography.
As she was drugged during her gang rape, weeks later she found out every detail of her own rape when the photos were posted and reposted on Facebook. “Every time it’s shut down on one Facebook [account], it seems to reappear and it’s been shared in several communities, so the victim has to relive it on a daily basis,” one official told the newspaper.
What was most horrible was the victim blaming campaign that ensued, she was called a whore and a “complete slut” on Facebook and other social networks.
One commenter on Facebook said” It just sounds like she’s more embarrassed about it so she’s trying to turn it to make it sound like she’s a victim of something, rather than to say that she did something and that she knows that it was incredibly idiotic,”.
